What Makes Coffee More Than Just Liquid in a Mug
Everyone has a coffee story,
Here is mine.
About an old crush,
That I had once upon a time.
We looked at each other,
And he was sipping coffee.
His friend must have cracked a joke,
And my heart skipped a beat looking at him smile.
For me drinking coffee,
Then became a heart’s goal.
A reason to make conversation,
With the person that makes my stomach jolt.
But then as the crush faded,
Coffee stuck with me.
It helped me mend my broken heart,
And taught me how to spend time,
With my best friend — me.
Coffee is more than just that liquid in a mug,
It’s a ray of hope for some.
Its that much needed break we give ourselves,
When life decides to wreck our soul.
It’s the reason for conversations,
It’s an excuse to run away from someone.
It’s a safe space to meet your best pals,
And make life changing decisions near that chai stall.
Those beans are like gold for some,
For some they are a reason to wake up.
Whatever is your excuse,
Coffee for me is synonymous to self-love.
