What If?

A poem

Air cool,
Unexpected rain,
Giving us all a reminder,
October is on its way.

Three months,
Left for this year,
Have I achieved enough,
I hear this question in my ear.

What if I was just still?
What if I was just discovering?
What gives me peace,
And makes me happy?

What if I just spent some time,
Listening to my thoughts?
What if I just lay in bed,
Contemplating my journey so far?

What if I didn’t achieve a thing?
What if I just focused on my breathing?
What if I just listened to songs?
That healed my heart.

Maybe I didn’t do anything worthwhile,
Maybe I just let time go by.
But through it all I learnt,
That even in stillness we learn.

That eventually we all discover,
What we are meant to be.
But through it all if we just lie still,
That’s okay and we should not feel guilty.
