Daring to Trust: Navigating the Scary, Exciting Road of Change
Navigating the Uncharted Waters of Emotional Evolution
“The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.” — Alan Watts
I am not supposed to be feeling this way.
This is something we often tell our minds on a loop when something doesn’t feel like our usual self. When we are so used to behaving a certain way that the moment something feels off, we begin to question it.
Questioning everything is good. Especially when it comes to our feelings. Feeling anything out of the ordinary means we are trying to figure out how we are letting go of our past behavior. Similar to a snake shedding its skin. But the process is scary. We don’t want to let go of our past behavior because it feels familiar, because we like patterns so that we are aware of outcomes, because knowing how we feel means we can take steps to feel anything different.
If you are an independent soul, depending on someone else freaks you out. Depending on someone else means giving someone else the control of your emotions. After all, why should someone else determine how you feel? Therefore, depending on yourself saves you from pain and unmet expectations.
But does anything magical happen without pain? Do we ever grow without falling? Do we ever dare to take the leap if we don’t force ourselves to move on from the pain?
So here is the deal. Depending on someone doesn’t mean we give the reins of our life to someone else. It means we finally trust in someone to help us take a break from emotionally draining responsibilities. Depending on someone means we finally have the courage to take care of our needs without having to feel guilty about it. Depending on someone means we have finally taken that leap of faith to let go and observe what the universe has in store.
This could be the biggest mistake or blessing of our life. But no matter what the outcome, it will eventually help us grow. You see, sometimes life puts you in situations where you don’t get an option. You have to trust that whoever you put your trust in will walk the talk. Because if you don’t you won’t ever be able to find out what’s in store for you. To get to the next level in the game of life, you have to take along those people with you who have made a space in your heart.
It’s scary to trust, it’s nerve-wracking to let go. But true discovery of what is about to unfold only happens when we choose to surrender. And when we surrender it can only go two ways –
1. It will help you to understand yourself better, learn from the lessons and evolve into a much better version of you.
2. Read point no. 1.
Thank you so much for your time!
