Breathe Through the Storm: Embracing the Present Amidst Turmoil
Embrace uncertainty, trusting that the universe has a greater plan beyond our immediate understanding
“Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure.” — Oprah Winfrey
We all have routines. They keep us grounded. They ensure we don’t go insane with uncertainty. They help us to live our life while things unfold in the background. But sometimes, as you go about with your routine, things have a way of falling apart.
Every thought feels crippling. You feel like the ground you’re standing on is so fragile that you just keep falling. There is no end and your heart is racing. But eventually, when we choose to just breathe, count each breath and feel the air entering and exiting, we find a way to get back to the present.
We all have felt the crippling anxiety of things falling apart. It’s when you keep questioning everything and wonder why now and why me. We blame ourselves because we feel we made the wrong decision or worse, we put faith in something that backfired. However, when things fall apart, if we just stepped back and saw what’s actually happened, we realise that there is a sign that life is trying to show us but we are clouded by fear to recognise it and understand its hidden meaning.
There will be instances in your life where you will be at a crossroads. You will want to know the outcomes of your desires so badly that living in the present feels like a challenge. Your hunger to get to your answers swallows you whole and stresses you up so much that everything and everyone around you feels like a blur. But don’t beat yourself up when you get back to the present and look back on how you behaved with others at that time. There was no way you could be there for anyone else, as you were completely shattered. However, do look back and learn from your mistakes, the most important one being — that the present moment is the only answer you have and will need to get through the next day.
We feel that life can give you only one outcome — a yes or a no. But just stop and look back towards everything that has unfolded for you so far and you will realise that everything always worked out better than you imagined. Why? Because life plays out with its infinite permutations and combinations and the human mind isn’t capable of processing it all. We only see things in black and white, but life is planning a rainbow of outcomes for you that will be for your best. So why waste so much precious time wondering what’s the result?
It’s tough, I know, to tell yourself that everything will work out. You and I only look at the outcome. Whereas the universe looks beyond that outcome which we can never foresee.
So, if you’re in a place where you feel like things are falling apart, step back and breathe. You don’t need to know how you will get through tomorrow. Just think about getting through each breath and eventually you will get a hold of yourself. And remember, no matter what the outcome, don’t take it on its face value. The outcome is just a glimpse of a magnificent future that awaits you. But for now, just breathe.
Thanks so much for your time!
