Beyond the Clock: Why Being Ready Matters More Than Timing

True achievement comes from persistent effort and being ready to seize the moment when it arrives.

The only reason for time is so that everything doesn’t happen at once.

— Albert Einstein

Hard work — there is no escape from it. You have to give it your all to be where you desire. But hard work demands consistency. You cannot take a day off. Because for all you know the day you choose to take a step back, that golden opportunity you have been eying on slides past you in a blink of an eye.

However, sometimes, time undervalues hard work. Or should I say, it makes you think if the timing of your hard work is right. On some days your work gets its due credit and on some, you just wonder what is the point. Time is that key ingredient required to ensure your efforts stay relevant. And thus, we all fall prey to the famous saying ‘its all about timing’.

You could be in a miserable relationship for years. And yet you put through because you felt the timing isn’t right. You kept pushing ahead with that doctor’s appointment out of fear only to realise that you would have suffered less if you just went to the doctor sooner. You wanted to call and apologise to the person you love, but your ego got in the way. And then it was too late to mend something that could easily be fixed.

It’s easy to blame everything on time. Why take the blame on yourself when there is someone else to blame?

So here is my realisation. We feel that it’s all about timing. However, in reality it’s all about being ready. Ready to realise what’s right and wrong, when to stay and when to leave, when to put ourselves first and when to say no. When to take that leap of faith to finally break free from the shackles of the past.

Time has a way to make you ready for what’s to come. It prepares you to deal with the next challenge or lesson. It reveals to you lessons that you must learn, not too soon or not too late. It prepares you to survive through agony and handle unprecedented success only when it feels you’re capable of handling it.

So, the next time you feel ‘the timing isn’t right’, of course it isn’t. You aren’t ready for your goals so keep going, keep working hard and keep pushing yourself even though the push seems minuscule. All effort, no matter how small, is significant. And until and unless you go through happy, sad, frustrated, and self-worth questioning days, your time will never be right.

Thanks so much for your time!
